I went through a phase of picking up blankets in sales and I have a few recycled woolen blankets, and one of them (through necessity) turned into my picnic blanket. It's small and compact, perfect for a day in the park. But because it's not specifically for picnics, we came up with a picnic roll pattern - a holder any blanket can be rolled into for easy transport to the park or beach. 

This cute little design also helps store picnic blankets in the car or cupboard, can be customised to contrast or match your blanket. The holder could be used to roll up sleeping bags or mats on sleepovers or camping!
